The problem
Telecom engineers juggle spreadsheets, vendor utilities and half-remembered formulas for everyday calculations, such as channel numbers, link budgets, rain fade, line of sight and PCI plans. Free calculators online rarely show their working, so there's no way to check them.
What we built
- 27 tools across radio, transmission, fibre, site power and data quality: channel-number converters, link budgets, ITU-R rain attenuation, a terrain line-of-sight profiler, a PCI conflict checker, an MML script generator and validator, and an AI alarm explainer.
- Every result shows its model and assumptions. Calculators and file checks run entirely in the browser, so engineers' data never leaves their machine.
Architecture
- A static Next.js site, so every page is a plain file with nothing to run in production.
- A small FastAPI and PostgreSQL service for sign-in by email link, exports, share links, terrain profiles and the capped AI explainer.
- Formulas checked against the ITU-R and 3GPP standards, with reference values from independent implementations.
