In short: calculators and file checks run in your browser and send nothing to us. We keep an account only if you sign in to export, and we only email you updates if you tick the box that asks.
Who we are
RanWorx Telco Tools is run by RanWorx Solutions (registration number 2010/073570/23), 8 Blackberry Street, Zwartkop, Centurion, South Africa. We are the responsible party for your personal information under South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), and the controller for visitors covered by the GDPR. What runs where
- In your browser only: every calculator, and the data-quality, neighbour-list, config-diff and baseline tools. Files you pick and values you type are not uploaded.
- MML script generator and validator: your script is sent to our server, checked in memory, and not stored.
- Terrain line-of-sight profiler: the two coordinates go to our server, which asks an elevation data provider for heights along the path. The provider receives the sampled coordinates only — never who you are. Results are cached in memory for up to an hour.
- AI explanations (signed in only): your question and the alarm or topic it relates to are sent to our AI provider to write the answer. We don't store the question; we count uses to apply the daily limit.
What we keep, why, and for how long

We do not sell your information, and we don't use advertising or third-party tracking.
Cookies and browser storage
- rw_tt_session — a sign-in cookie, set only when you sign in, sent only to the tools' own server, and kept for up to 30 days. Needed for signed-in features.
- rw_tt_anon — a random ID in your browser's local storage, used to count tool usage anonymously. Clear your browser storage to reset it.
Who helps us run the tools
These providers process information on our behalf, some of them outside South Africa. We rely on their contractual commitments to protect it.
- Amazon Web Services — hosting (United States).
- Resend — delivering sign-in and update emails.
- Anthropic — writing AI explanations, if you use them (United States).
- Open-Meteo — elevation data for the line-of-sight profiler (coordinates only).
Work email policy
Sign-in is for work email addresses, which is how we know the tools are reaching engineers. If you use a personal address — for example as an independent consultant — use "request access" and a person reviews it.
Your rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted; object to how we use it; and withdraw marketing consent at any time — untick "Email me RanWorx updates" when signed in, or email us. Write to info@ranworx.com and mention "RanWorx Telco Tools".
If you're unhappy with how we handle your information, you can complain to South Africa's Information Regulator, or, if you are in the EU or UK, to your local data-protection authority.
